Fishing Point is the meeting place for local residents and tourists alike.. There are 4 major trails that begin here - each trail being unique.. Don't miss this series of amazing trails.. There is a large "Trail Map" sign at the entrance to Fishing Point Park - to help guide you..
The Santana Trail is for people in good physical condition - who can climb 476 stairs to the top of a mountain.. This trail is likely the most amazing walk within St. Anthony.. After climbing the stairs follow the trail towards the huge antenna mast - whereupon you will be confronted with a mesmerizing view of pristine Newfoundland coast and Atlantic ocean.. There are also great views of the town of St. Anthony from the top of the stairs.. Once you are underneath the huge antenna tower, follow the gravel road back down to the village (this is an incredibly beautiful walk !!).. Once back in town, follow the street back to the harbour road, and walk back to Fishing point to complete the loop.. Don't miss this trail !!.. Rated moderate to difficult, due to long stairway.. CAUTION: Keep children and pets close-by - as this trail has sections close to the edge of very high, steep cliffs.. Allow at least 90 minutes..
The Cartier's View Trail leads to an amazing look-out over St. Anthony Bight Harbour - an immense harbour with amazing cliffs surrounding the harbour.. This lookout is particularly beautiful at sunset - when the sun's rays turn the mountains into different layers of colour.. This trail is easy - and takes about 30 minutes.. A perfect spot for a picnic..
The Iceberg Alley Trail is a boardwalk, which follows along the tip of St. Anthony's Fishing Point Park (Atlantic Ocean) - and is an excellent place to view icebergs (in season - late Spring & early summer).. The trail starts at the lighthouse - and is mostly boardwalk (easy).. Allow about 30 minutes.. (Wheelchair accessible)
The Whale Watchers Trail is a series of boardwalks and short stairways, which leads to an amazing look-out over the Atlantic ocean, underneath the huge cliffs of Fishing Point (must see).. The lookout has a pay telescope - and is an excellent place for whale watching in season.. This trail is easy - and takes about 30 minutes..
